Google is now using a Siri shortcut to make it easy for users to launch Assistant on iOS. This post explains how to set this up.
Until now, you had to open the Google Assistant app or the shortcut from the lock screen to launch the Assistant. There was no true hands-free method to do this.
Then came Siri shortcuts.
Google is making use of Siri Shortcuts to solve this problem. You can now add a Siri Shortcut to launch Google Assistant hands-free.
How to Set Up OK Google or Hey Google Siri Shortcut
To get this Siri Google Assistant integration:
- Make sure that you have the latest version of iOS installed on your iPhone.
- Open the Google Assistant app
- Tap “Add to Siri”
- Tap the record button and say “OK Google.” (or Hey Google)
That’s it. Now, here is how to launch Google Assistant, using Siri. Say:
“Hey Siri, OK Google.”
That will tell Siri to launch Google Assistant. The Google Assistant will launch, ready to listen to your command.
This is the easiest and officially supported method available for you to add hands-free Google Assistant integration to your iPhone.
Hope you get this working on your iPhone. Please let me know in comments if you face any issues. We can figure this out together!
