A single Google Home device can identify up to six people and respond to queries using information from their respective accounts. This feature is called “Voice Match”. This helps identify voices of multiple users from the same device.
Here is a quick troubleshooting step to try if your Google Assistant Voice Match is not working.
Basic Troubleshooting Steps
Before we clearing data and reset the Google app, make sure that you have tried the following steps:
- Restart your phone, Google Home and your WiFi router.
- Make sure that you have latest versions of all the apps.
Make Sure that “Voice Match” is Enabled
If the basic troubleshooting steps did not work, check Settings to make sure that you have enabled Voice Match.
Open the Google Home App and tap the profile icon on the bottom right corner.
From the next screen, tap the device that you have Voice Match issues.
Tap the Gear Icon on the top.
Scroll down and check if it says “Remove Voice Match” If it does, Voice Match is enabled for your account, for this device.
Tap ” x local devices” where “x” is the number of Home devices you have in your network.
If Voice Match is enabled for this device but still not working, try clearing data for the Google App and resetting it as explained here.
Clear Data and Cache for Google App
This involves clearing cache and data for your Google app. This will reset your Google app settings. You will need to set up Assistant again.
