[Leak] Google Home Mini Coming Soon At $49

Google Home is an attractive device. It is however a new technology. People are still not sure if they really need it. Here is something that might change this. According to leaks, Google will launch an affordable Google Home Mini this October.

There is a Google Hardware event planned for October 4th, 2017. The star attractions of this event will be the new Pixel phones and the new Pixelbook. However, if you are a Google Assistant / Google Home fan, here is the most attractive part for you. The leak suggests that there will be a new device, which will cost only $49.

Google Home Mini

Google Home Mini will arrive in Chalk, Charcoal, and Coral colors. This is a small Google Assistant powered speaker. From the pictures however it does not look like a wireless device with battery.

Do not underestimate this device because of its size. With Google Assistant built-in, this speaker will help you get answers, get things done, just like you do with the regular Google Home. The speaker, however may not be as good or as loud as Google Home.

There are four little dots on top of the this device. The material on the top makes me think that these are just led notifications, and there will not be any touch interface around it. We might have to use just the Google Home app to control the volume etc, just like we do with the Chromecast.

That brings me to my next point. Google Home Mini reminds of me Chromecast. The Chromecast 2 with the rounded design specifically. What do you guys think? Does it remind me of your Chromecast?

It is not just the design that reminds me of Chromecast. The Chromecast and Chromecast 2 were very affordable devices which became instant hit all over the world. There isn’t much difference between $35 and $49 in the gadget world.

Will this device make Google’s smart assistant to a wider audience? I certainly think so. What do you think?
